The InterRail Adventure in Pictures – Part 2: Zagreb, Belgrad, Budapest
CONTINUES. From Ljubljana we were supposed to go to the coastline of Croatia but after realising it would take so much time in the train and there would be so little time by the water, it was wise to leave it for another time. But we went to Zagred which was a very positive surprise to me! I had no clue about the city but it has a nice friendly vibe and there is a lot to see. We went to see the Museum of Broken Hearts that was full of very interesting stories about the complicated human relationships. That was something different and so human!
Then again the plans changed. The next destionation was supposed to be Budapest but since there was 100 % rain we were spontanous again – which is the very best thing to be when doing the InterRail trip – and headed towars Serbia! One night and day in Serbia, it was interesting to see a new culture to me. The food was so good, that I will remember my Birthday dinner there forever (the restaurant of the picture).
The roughest part of the rail adventure was the night train from Belgrad to Budapest. The rain was so old and crumpy, it was as hot as in the sauna before opening the windows. And an old guy was smoking non-stop in the next cabin and all the smoke came through the air ventilation channel to our cabin. Oh my I was happy to arrive to sunny morning of Budapest early next morning after over eight hours train trip!
Budapest is amazing. Big scale architecture, grand glory, old thermal baths and many super lovely spots to hang around. The summer there is like you would have gone to another city for a summer camp – that was the feeling to me! I loved the Jewish Quarter with all its cafes and the ruin pubs. And the downtown was full of people taking it easy by the water reservoir. Also a great spot for enjoying life was the bridge over Danube. I had never experienced such a funny place to have a bag beer! There is so much everything that we ended up spending the longest time of the fast-paced trip there, even three nights. That’s why a bit more pics too!
In the last chapter it’s time for Austria, Germany and Denmark
