The InterRail Adventure in Pictures – Part 3: from Austria through Germany to Denmark
CONTINUES. From Budapest it would have been handy to go and check Bratislava. We actually went to the train station and had decided that we would choose the train which we’ll get first. The Bratislava train was just leaving when we got there so that was it. Straight to Austria then! After spending a night in Vienna, we wanted to continue to the nature immediately! Enough for the cities. We headed to picture perfect Hallstatt but stayed in the next village called Obertraun, only approx. four kilometres away from there. They still has some accommodation left. In Obertraun we went up to the Alps and enjoyed the beautiful summer views, alpin flowers and watched the hanggliders taking off. The air was crispy both up there but also down the mountains. And the views were amazing both ways too. In stead of two nights I would have wanted to spend a week there!
To lovely Hallstatt we went by walking. Antti captivated the beauty of the small village.
We left Austria by popping by in Mozart’s Salzburg. An easy hop to Germany’s side and then we spent the time admiring old Heidelberg town where we went from Stuttgart for a day.
Then Antti left to Finland and I still stayed to visit my German friend in Berlin. A couple of days there, just chilling in the green parks – the weather was perfect and we had a lot to catch up after we hadn’t met in two years. Then it was time for the last destination of the super rail trip! Copenhagen – my 40. country – I hadn’t visited Denmark before. I took the most of the last days and then I changed the train to the airplane and headed myself to home!
What a trip – this was a quickie wrapped up version! I will definately do some InterRailing again – next time a bigger, longer, uncut version! Maybe some film!
